MEET
I got my start in 1990, when I finally let my artistic side take over and studied Interior Design.
• At my first design job I dove deep into textiles, upholstery, furniture, and drapery at Loomcraft.
• By 1994 I was running a wholesale trade showroom for Robert Allen and Kravet fabrics, Seabrook Wallcovering and Hunter Douglas. This lead to a year and half grind of in-home design sales with Fabrics First. Followed by a 2 year stint as a lead Interior Designer at Dream Interiors in Downers Grove.
• I decided to briefly leave design for a year to take a sales rep job for Hunter Douglas with territories from St Louis to West Bend, Indiana. This is where my passion for picking antiques/vintage on country roads, estate sales, and antique malls expanded.
• This lead to a beautiful 10 year run at Designer Studio! I trained, shadowed, apprenticed, earned, and learned everything from flooring, tile, lighting, art and window treatment installations, to high end cabinetry design.
• In 2009 I decided it was time to go out on my own, and by 2010 I opened Core Interior Design with a store front studio space.
• In 2012 I opened a larger antique store, further fulfilling my passion for vintage, antiques, and restoration, winning Best Antique Store by the Daily Herald in 2014. This space also provided a full scale interior/exterior design studio where I added remodeling to my roster. I also created my exclusive fragrance and candle line.
• By 2020 I finally landed at my current location housing a vintage boutique & design studio concept.
• Design has really changed since I started in 1990! Back then, my job required me to acclimate to all my clients needs. Whether they were Far Eastern Indian Contemporary or Traditional Waverly Cozy Cottage, my job is to extract from my clients THEIR dream environments. Nowadays some designers only design with "their personal taste." Ironically, my funky bold rock and roll MCM ranch is MINE and mine alone. No budget is too small, and no concept is off the table. I am not an elitist with design. I work with hoarders and heal space, as well as whole house design.I have also designed multiple restaurants in and around Chicago. I'm going to the grave designing, creating and treasure hunting. I'm pumped to see where my brain will be at 60 and how it evolves creatively. I'm truly blessed with amazing clients and I love them dearly.
